February 22, 2026Dear Second Episcopal District Family, It is with the Joy of the Lord that I send this letter to you for in Him we live, and, move and have our being- Acts 17:28.In 1988, through the vision of the late and honorable Mrs. Shirley J. Sheares, former President of the WMS Western North Carolina Conference, a transitional housing for men was born. It has undergone many name changes, but the mission has remained the same; to provide a temporary home for men who are homeless and to give them an opportunity to reestablish their connection to become self-sufficient. The AME Men’s Empowerment Center located in Raleigh, North Carolina is one of the outreach ministries of the Second Episcopal District called to be Jesus’ arms and legs on earth, as we are Second to None and First for Christ. In order to help keep this vision alive which is meeting the needs of men in the Raleigh Community, and for even greater works to be done, your financial support on a regular basis is needed. The SED Women’s Missionary Society support through Dorcas and the SED YPD support through the Souper Bowl of Caring have been providing consistent financial resources to meet the ever pressing and ongoing needs of the Center, however, it is my prayer that as individual members of such a great District, you will join in this support by prayerfully making a monthly pledge to help the least of them. No amount is too small, every dollar will go a long way with God as our Accountant who majors in multiplication!
